The Settlements Trade Officer role reports to the Treasury Operations Manager in the IBM Dublin Treasury Centre (DTC). The role primarily supports the IBM inhouse bank located in Dublin through the confirmation and settlement of intercompany and external financial transactions. The IBM inhouse bank provides services to approximately 350 IBM entities in over 100 countries optimizing IBM’s cash outside of the US in a controlled and efficient manner and managing associated risks in accordance with IBM policies guidelines and delegations.
- Execute the confirmation and settlement of financial transactions for the global inhouse bank including foreign exchange (FX) trades money market investments intercompany loans and deposits and inhouse bank account (intercompany) transactions.
- Timely and accurate execution of activities ensuring payments are processed timely in accordance with internal and bank cut-off times while operating within proper procedure guidelines that adhere to established controls.
- Drive process optimization by identifying manual workflows and partnering with upstream teams and banking partners to implement automation and reduction in manual tasks. Focus on process simplification by leveraging technology including the Treasury Management System (TMS) AI and data analytics.
- Communicate with 25+ relationship banks on the confirmation and settlement of financial transactions.
- Process the funding for IBM’s mass payments factory which executes disbursements to third parties on a daily basis.
- Perform bank account reconciliation ensuring all unreconciled transactions on bank accounts daily are investigated and resolved and any overdraft positions identified are investigated and remediated promptly.
- Execute the monthly intercompany Multi-Lateral Netting (MLN) program where IBM entities settle their payable and receivable positions with other IBM entities through the Dublin Treasury Centre inhouse bank.
- Monitor counterparty limits to ensure cash holdings with banks do not exceed delegated levels.
- Bank fee analysis.
- Record claims against IBM entities or external parties for costs incurred due to errors. Claims should be measured and tracked to resolution.
- Close interaction with Front Office Cash Management and Accounting teams across the global IBM Treasury environment on operational activities.
- Respond to internal Treasury compliance requests and ad hoc queries from internal and external auditors.
- Support internal IBM organizations in researching resolving and reconciling items resulting from transactional activities.
- Ensure timely response to inquiries avoiding escalation to management whenever possible.
- Handle special projects related to the job area as requested by management such as developing project plans and executing IBM capital structure related projects.
- A third level or professional qualification in Finance Treasury or banking while advantageous is not essential.
- Professional knowledge of financial concepts related to Treasury cash management and bank operations as well as a diverse understanding of banking products while advantageous is not essential.
- Strong excel technology and systems skills are required. Prior experience operating TMS (Treasury Management System) is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Must be a team player and apply a range of collaboration and communication technologies enhancing team interactions.
- Analytical skills and familiarity with developing and maintaining analytical spreadsheets are required.
- Ability to identify recommend and implement automation solutions and process simplifications – including application of AI and data analysis - to reduce manual tasks is required.
