Job Responsibilities:Coordinate orientation, clinical training, and ongoing evaluation for new and existing urgent care staff, ensuring timely completion and submission of clinical competencies upon hire and annually
Collaborate with supervisors to develop and manage clinical staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage during extended hours and peak times
Provide clinical oversight and leadership to LPNs and Medical Assistants, ensuring care delivery aligns with professional standards and scope of practice
Triage and assess acutely ill patients, promptly identifying critical symptoms to support timely interventions and prevent complications
Partner with urgent care providers to stabilize patients in emergency situations and coordinate safe, efficient transport to higher levels of care
Communicate clearly and professionally with EMS and emergency responders to ensure accurate patient handoff during medical transport
Deliver patient and family education on disease management, treatment plans, and health promotion using available resources and tools
Respond to urgent or emergent situations within the facility, providing rapid assessment and stabilization as needed
Administer medications safely and accurately using sound pharmacological knowledge and in compliance with UHS policies and procedures
Maintain CLIAāwaived lab standards; perform and oversee lab testing, quality control procedures, and compliance with regulatory requirements including triāannual proficiency testing
Act as a care coordinator among patients, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring collaborative decisionāmaking and continuity of care
Support performance improvement initiatives by monitoring quality data, participating in audits, and assisting in the development of action plans in alignment with Joint Commission and NYS DOH standards
Minimum Required:
Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
At least 1 year experience in health care setting with evidence of having obtained proficiency in those areas emphasized in the Registered Nurse curriculum.
Current NY State RN license.
Documentation of current CPR certification required within 1 week of start of employment.
Preferred:
Previous experience in a walk in / primary care/ specialty care setting.
Office specificā IE: Oncology Cert, Lactation Consultant , Wound / Ostomy Cert
Work Environment
- Work is performed in an office environment that requires working in proximity to other employees and patients.
- The office is air conditioned as well as heated.
- Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
- Fastāpaced environment including frequent interruptions.
- Frequent walking, standing and bending.
- Possibility of lifting of patients.
- Mobility may include access through a multiālevel facility, including climbing stairs.
- PPEā Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, Gloves per UHS Infection Control and CDC guidelines when appropriate.
