Summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the Certain Personnel/Modified Direct Hiring Authority. Duties
You will stand watch in the Harbor Control Tower, coordinating all vessel traffic.
You will Assist the Port Services Coordinator with arranging pilot and tugboat assignments to assist naval vessels in the Hawaii region.
You will update and disseminate vessel movement schedule as changes or additions occur.
You will notify security of all work being performed by small crafts in and around piers and dry-docks.
You will monitor regional bases weather and wind speed and initiate emergency procedures when weather conditions necessitate preventive measures be taken.
You will maintain a computerized log documenting port activity including vessel movements within the port, personnel injury, fires, petroleum spills, crane accidents, etc.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
This position requires rotating shift-work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
This position requires the incumbent to be on-call on a rotational basis, responding to emergency calls at times beyond the normal duty day.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Ability to interpret contracts for transportation services; 2) Pulls & analyzes data to create reports to leadership; 3) Demonstrates knowledge of port operations functions such as, (berthing, docking evolutions, diving operations, hotel services etc.

There is no educational substitution for experience.
