Job Description

OVERVIEW.

This dynamic position will focus across Alpine’s investments in software and services, consisting of (i) researching and identifying markets to invest in (ii) compiling lists of prospective companies and their executives (iii) reaching out directly to CEOs/Owners with a strongly crafted message to gauge their interest in selling and (iv) evaluating the fundamentals and growth opportunities of the potential investment. Analysts will work closely with Alpine employees, as well as Corporate Development employees at Alpine’s portfolio companies. Analyst’s will be based out of Alpine’s newest office in Salt Lake City, Utah where the origination team (known as Elevation internally) is based.

RESEARCH.

This individual will be responsible for executing targeted projects to outreach directly to companies.This will consist of a large research component in order to identify interesting companies using various databases and internet research. Research will help analyst develop knowledge on industry and market trends.

OUTREACH.

This individual will be responsible for creating and executing a strategy with the result of engaging a business owner in a discussion to sell. This will be a combination of emailing, calling and other creative solutions. These conversations will be directly with CEOs and other C-Suite professionals.  Key responsibilities include delivering Alpine or the relevant portfolio company pitch, gathering information about the company and working with our internal team to progress the deals. Outreach will help analysts develop strong communication skills specifically geared towards interacting with C-Suite professionals. 

EVALUATION.

After establishing contact with a business owner, this individual will conduct the initial evaluation of a new opportunity, process Non-Disclosure Agreements and pitch investment opportunities to our internal team. A strong understanding of Alpine’s investment criteria will be required. Evaluation will help analysts develop their own investing judgement and criteria, potentially helping shape and adjust Alpine’s investing criteria.

Communicating directly to CEOs is a skill set that many do not have much exposure to. This individual will gain extensive exposure. Candidates must be excited about a role where they will be on the phone for a significant portion of the day and where research, cold calling and cold emailing is required.

Originating new investments is a highly valued skillset in the private equity industry. Originating deals set up Alpine’s investing and operating teams to buy and then build the best businesses possible. Strong performers tend to be organized self-starters that are confident in their communication and critical thinking skills. Compensation is structured to incentivize high performers with an unlimited ceiling on earnings. Prior sales or sourcing experience will translate well for this role. Prior experience in private equity or finance is not required, but there should a demonstrated interest in business and investing.
