Job Description

Summary You will serve as a Supply Technician in the Hazardous Material Minimization (HAZMIN) of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF. Duties You will ensure ship inventory is properly maintained and all materials meet shipboard specifications. You will coordinate shipboard personnel hazardous material training. You will investigate problems as they occur, recommend resolutions, and report to the chain of command. You will coordinate ordering and delivery of HAZMAT materials. You will train and assist with offload/disposal of excess material and the preparation of transfer documents. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision This position may be coded as “key” and as such you may be required be removed from military recall status. A signed statement of understanding required. You may be required to wear personal protective equipment or clothing such as hardhats, steel-toed shoes, gloves made of a variety of material types, masks, and rubber aprons. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Incumbent must complete the Afloat HAZMAT Coordinator, HMCM Technician, and CHRIMP/ HICS Technician courses within six months of employment. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector utilizing knowledge and application of supply chain management and software to provide logistical support for services such as receiving, shipping, distribution and delivery of services and materials. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) Complying with Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) storage requirements and regulations, labeling, and procedures; 2) Maintaining shipment of inventory and inspecting materials for compliance with regulations; 3) Resolving discrepancies within inventory management and customer service; 4) Utilizing automated systems for inventorying and recording records.
