Summary About the Position: This position is located in the Madigan Army Medical Center, located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, for Department of Emergency Medicine. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Duties Provide expertise in Behavioral Health, Psychosocial and Crisis Intervention for Individuals seeking treatment and care in an emergency room setting. Develop individualized treatment plans for each case based on psychiatric, cognitive, psychosocial, environmental, and medical needs. Utilize social work systems, theories, and principles that impact patient care. Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses to include a history of trauma, physical abuse, neglect, exploitation, co-occurring conditions, and suicide. Select, administer, and interpret instruments for the purpose of assisting in the diagnosis and assessment of treatment plans with behavioral/psychiatric disorders. Collect bio-psycho-social information about patients using interviewing, case history, observation, and various assessment methods. This position has a requirement to lift up to 35 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Requirements Conditions of employment This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion This position requires that applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so. This position has been designated "Mission Essential". Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position. This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules. Individual Occupational Requirement for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (NOTE: You must attach copy of your transcripts) In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations of behavioral health patients, providing individual or group clinical counseling, and developing behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Selective Place Factor Requirement: Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
