Learn more about this agency Duties The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of manual tasks in food preparation and food service areas. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Performs a variety of routine tasks in a kitchen following established procedures. Instructs cooks on proper techniques and methods of cooking and preparing a variety of food items in the art of fine culinary cuisine. Creates and plans new culinary menu items and recipes to support the interest of customers. Plans all menus for regular meals, fine dining and parties. Performs other duties as assigned. This position requires the incumbent to work shift work. Monday-Sunday, days, nights and holidays. This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to position. Must have experience in supervising personnel. Must have knowledge of dietetics, planning culinary activities, and portion control. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
