**Pediatric Medical Director Opening in New York** * For School Based Health Program. * Located in Cooperstown, NY* in the foothills of the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains. * 70 miles to Albany & 90 miles to Syracuse NY. * Service area of 60,000 people. * Full time, permanent opening. * Healthcare network, a growing central New York State health care system, and major teaching affiliate of Columbia University, is seeking a Medical Director for its very successful School Based Health Program. * Program has grown into the largest rural school-based health program in New York State and is one of the largest rural programs in the country. * Since 1991, it has been providing convenient quality health care to students in grades K-12 in rural school districts. * There are currently 21 SBHCs operating in four counties, serving 7,500 students with more than 37,000 visits per year. * SBHC care includes evidence-based pediatric care, mental health care, preventive-oral health care, and they are all NCQA PCMH approved sites. * The new Director will work with the past directors to collaborate clinically with the advanced practice clinicians that provide the majority of the medical care in the SBHCs; the Director will provide clinical guidance for protocols, policies, and projects related to the School Based Health Program, including the development of new SBHCs and advocacy for the program at the local, state, and federal levels. The Director will work closely with the Managers of the SBH Program and both the Administrative Director and Chief of the Department of Pediatrics to plan strategically for the future of the program. * The network is an integrated health care system that provides care and services to people living in an eight county region covering 5,600 square miles in Central New York.
