Summary
About the Position: Sierra Army depot is located in Herlong, Ca, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles of Susanville, Ca. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Mass transportation is available at minimal cost. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Duties
Operate a variety of automotive, combat, and materials handling equipment, and Electric Bridge Crane, and/or Crawler Crane, and Rough Terrain Container Handler while loading, unloading, and delivering equipment to specified destinations.
Transport, by operation, the full range of engineering equipment, e.g., bulldozers, graders, wheeled cranes, farm type tractors, etc.
Maneuver loads over and around such ground level obstacles as equipment, stacked supplies, and partitioned bins utilizing a Bridge Crane which is fitted with such attachments as hook, magnet, clamshell bucket, or special material handling devices.
Perform rigging tasks required in the loading, unloading and moving of a variety of large and heavy equipment and machinery.
Operates gasoline, diesel or electric powered fork lift truck, with a lifting capacity of up to and more than 10,000 pounds and as high as 420 centimeters or greater depending on the job requirement, while moving cargo to positions in buildings.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 45lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
This is a Term position scheduled to last 2 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator License to operate forklift equipment.
This position requires you to work in shifts and overtime as needed.
This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain forklift license.
Must posses CDL Class A license.
Drug testing: This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Mobile Equipment Operator ~ wwithout more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as operating Rough Terrain Container Handlers to move and stack loads safely and transporting wheeled cranes to support warehouse operations. I can perform preventative maintenance checks to maintain operational readiness I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Considerable effort is exerted when reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate and turn large, heavy vehicles and operate two braking systems. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally handles objects over 50 pounds while loading and unloading cargo. Rigging work requires incumbent to frequently lift and carry moderately heavy objects such as cables, chains and jacks. Continually reaches, bends, stoops, pushes and pulls while attaching rigging gear to the object to be moved. Frequently uses entire body weight to push or pull suspended loads while moving objects in desired positions. Stands and walks for prolonged periods of time, and frequently climbs on platforms or structures to signal the crane operator.
Working Conditions: Works indoors and outdoors in all types of weather when loading and unloading vehicles. Drives in traffic on and off post in all types of weather conditions and is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents. Frequently exposed to unpleasant noise, heat, and fumes from the work area. Exposed to serious injury from swinging loads, breaking lines, and falling objects, or overturned crane. Exposed to cuts, bruises, broken bones from falls while climbing and attaching rigging. Hard hats, safety shoes and gloves are used. Responsible to observe all safety and health rules established for the protection of self and others. Comply with regulations, observe and report hazards, and assist in overall accident prevention effort. Participate in Safety and Health Management System and support the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) efforts.
