Learn more about this agency Duties You will provide direct oversight and management of shipboard C4 and assigned electronics systems supporting PM6. You will coordinate innovative, unusual and/or routine shipboard IT system installation, maintenance and sustainment activities. You will provide customer service support to resolve deployment, maintenance, and sustainment issues with shipboard IT systems. You will provide direct oversight of shipboard IT systems ensuring system compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, standards and procedures. Yow will direct oversight and support to MSC ships as required, ranging from minor repairs to major overhauls requiring extended industrial assistance. Qualifications (For GS -13) I have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: overseeing the implementation of programming specifications by monitoring program design, coding and debugging performed by contractors. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: determining customer requirements and assisting customers by recognizing and analyzing trends by providing instruction and orientation. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: contacting customers at the Desk Level that may include those who are skeptical or uncooperative, skilled in communication to relay instructions and represent the team in meetings within the organization. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: analyzing the types, frequency and solutions necessary to correct problems and improve help desk operational procedures. In addition to my experience demonstrating the four competencies above, I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Experience directing a staff of technical specialists, providing planning, technical, and supervisory guidance. Experience working within shipboard IT and electronics systems life cycle planning, management, operations, and sustainment. Experience executing shipboard installation, maintenance, and sustainment activities for new and existing network, voice, and electronic systems. Experience ensuring shipboard installation compliance with applicable regulations, statutes, and standards. Experience researching, developing, and evaluating the technical adequacy of proposals for resolving complex shipboard network and electronic issues.
