Summary
This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for provide UNIX and Windows system administration support for mission-critical applications in development and production environments.

Duties
As a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Coordinating UNIX and Windows operating system, database and scheduling administrative actions with actions of other administration teams and developers.
Providing technical lead in UNIX and Windows server problems and operations.
Serving as the focal point in the day-to-day activities required to support application development, which includes coordinating or incorporating the work of Configuration Managers, Oracle Database Administrators, and different types of application developers to ensure technical accuracy of on-going and completed projects.
Identifying and discussing new or unusual situations with management and technical experts and define solutions.
Reviewing and determining software and hardware architecture requirements based upon current and future technical requirements.
Researching and testing software and hardware upgrades to existing technology for proper operation and integration with other hardware and software components before introducing them into the development and production environments.
Ensuring that DSCA, DISA/DMC and user needs are included in standards and policies. Assist in preparing local standards and interpretations of standards, and other documents and policy papers, and educate DSCA personnel concerning DSCA Mission Critical Administration procedures.
Developing and implementing system diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of UNIX and Windows systems required to support organizational objectives.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
Provide UNIX and Windows system administration support for mission-critical applications in development and production environments.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
