Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This is a PERMANENT position as a Plumber Leader (Motor Vehicle Operator) with the Directorate of Public Works, Fort Jackson, SC.

Duties
Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
Urges or advises other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines.
Provides information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems.
Performs the full range of journeyman level plumbing tasks associated with the fabrication, modification, maintenance, and repair of interior
plumbing systems.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Possess a valid state driver's license.
Pre-appointment and annual physical is required for the position.
Subject to 24/7 call back.
Position is designated as Inclement weather essential.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Back Flow Prevention Certificate with in 1 year.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Plumber Leader (MVO) ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform some tasks including using basic arithmetic, following work orders, sketches, or blueprints to plan and perform installation and repair of plumbing fixtures such as utility, supply and disposal systems and hooking up equipment such as water heaters, lavatories, sinks, and commodes. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in uncomfortable positions. The incumbent frequently lifts, carries, and sets up equipment and parts that weigh up to 40 pounds. Incumbent operates government vehicles up to and including 1 ton trucks and is also subject to emergency call-back duty.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in cramped quarters inside and outside and is subject to infection from unsanitary worksites and injury from use of power and hand tools and occasional use of caustic soda and hot lead.
