Duties
You will provide maintenance, expansion, troubleshooting, administration, design, and life-cycle upgrades on the Cisco Network.
You will support system administration and connectivity for servers, workstations and supporting data communications architecture.
You will examine the network workstations to ensure user access to file servers.
You will establish test criteria and data to ensure all program modules and outputs for assigned projects are tested for completeness and accuracy.
You will develop and maintain local procedures of networks, system operations and product assembly and installation.

This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code Network Operations Spec, proficiency level: Basic the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
This is an overseas position. You will be subject to and must be able to satisfy the overseas requirements of the 26Jul12 DODI 1400.25 V1230: http://www.esd.whs.mil/Portals/54/Documents/DD/issuances/140025/140025v1230.pdf
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
If eligible for permanent change of station, the appointee will be required to sign a transportation agreement to establish a Government time in service requirement of 12 months.
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: ability to review data from multiple sources and determine relevant information to a given situation; drafting, editing and disseminating written reports and status updates that are factual, timely and relatively error free
2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents; researching, evaluating, and providing feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support requirements
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: communicating complex technical requirements to technical and non-technical personnel; relaying Information Assurance and IT security requirements to personnel
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT related experience demonstrating this competency include: troubleshooting and resolving IT information security and assurance problems; mitigating risks to acceptable levels; and initiating protective and corrective measures if security issues are discovered.
Additionally, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Install, configure, and maintain network CiSco routers, switches, and firewalls for NIPR and SIPR networks while ensuring compliance with security protocols and network practices.
Oversee network and system maintenance, including IOS updates, hardware management, and backups, to ensure optimal performance and security.
Diagnose and resolve network issues quickly, providing support for hardware, software, and connectivity problems and conducting root cause analysis to prevent future issues.
Continuously monitor and optimize network performance using management tools to address potential issues before they affect operations.
Implement and update security measures, including regular audits and vulnerability assessments, to protect data and maintain network integrity.
Communicate network issues and solutions to employees and management while providing training on network access and security protocols.
Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations and procedures, and prepare regular reports on network performance and improvements for management.
