Summary
This vacancy is for a Personnel Security Assistant position in the Census Investigative Services Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau's National Processing Center in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Personnel Security Assistant, GS-0086-7, FPL GS-8 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Duties
Performs technical support work to initiate, review, and track personnel security background investigations in accordance with Federal regulations and agency procedures.
Maintains accurate, complete, and up-to-date personnel security records in electronic databases and tracking systems.
Serves as a primary point of contact for personnel security inquiries and provides assistance to applicants, employees, and stakeholders.
Assists in administering personnel security program requirements and ensuring compliance with Federal policies and procedures.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Personnel Security Assistant, at GS-0086-7, you must meet the minimum and/or basic qualification requirements listed below.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-07, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes:
Processing Federal suitability and/or national security background investigations;
Establishing, reviewing, and monitoring background investigation cases using electronic systems such as e-QIP, eAPP, and/or Personnel Investigations Processing System/Central Verification System;
Reviewing, analyzing, and validating security forms (e.g., SF-85, SF-85P, OF-306, fingerprint cards) for completeness and compliance;
Managing and tracking applicant case files in electronic systems and assisting customers with the security onboarding process.
Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
