This vacancy is for a Statistical Assistant position in the National Processing Center located at the U.S. Census Bureau National Processing Center in Jeffersonville, IN.

Duties
The individual selected for this position will:
Prepare preliminary drafts of classification correlations for developing proposals for revision to classification systems.
Write clerical procedures and specifications and resolves computer rejects and develops recommendations for revisions of procedures.
Initiate contact with and/or responds to contact from respondents or subject-matter specialist to resolve reporting problems of varying complexity.
Collect data and perform detailed statistical evaluations of matrices, summary reports, and similar type reports.

To qualify for the position of Statistical Assistant, at GS-1531-6, you must meet the minimum and/or basic qualification requirements listed below.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-06, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes collecting, organizing and analyzing statistical data from respondents via telephone and/or correspondence in a large-scale survey environment in a timely manner; following procedures accurately; preparing reports.
Education cannot be substituted at this grade.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.

Additional information
Tour of Duty: Hours will range between 8:00am to 6:30pm, Monday through Friday. Alternate Work Schedule is available. Alternate Work Schedule is an 80-hour biweekly basic work requirement that is scheduled in less than 10 days; i.e., eight 9-hour days/nights, one 8-hour day/night, and one day off. Positions may include shift work (first, second, or third), evening or weekend work, hours will vary. This position may include full time and/or part time work and may require a mixed tour agreement.
