Duties
You will provide care, oversight and accountability of children that complies with established standards, policies, procedures, and regulations.
You will conduct daily health checks of children and notify supervisor of any marks or signs that might indicate suspicion of illness, abuse, or neglect.
You will attend to the physical individual needs of children (e.g. diapering, feeding, toileting, resting, etc.).
You will maintain control of an assigned group of children and keep accurate count of children at all times.
You will assist in arranging classroom and play materials to accommodate the daily schedule and activities of children and assist in providing resources and making preparations for developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor activities.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination and complete annual health screenings thereafter.
You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
You must satisfactorily complete background checks IA W PL 101-64 7 to include NACI. Until such checks have been satisfactorily completed, you will remain under supervision of an individual whose background checks have been successfully completed.
You must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma, or equivalent, and be able to speak, read, and write English and willing and able to complete required training.
You will be required to complete the DoD training program no later than six months after you are employed as a childcare employee and complete a minimum of 24 hours of annual ongoing training thereafter.
Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development or related field to maintain National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) certification is desired.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing safe, developmentally appropriate environments and activities directly to children ages six weeks to six years in a classroom setting.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
I have successfully completed 4 years above high school OR
I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
