Learn more about this agency Duties Responsible for developing, coordinating graphic design, and visual and electronic media products, and implementing a comprehensive visual information program in support of the National Defense University. Designs and executes visual projects (print/digital media, presentations, and exhibits) that translate abstract concepts into clear, concise, and effective visual messages. Liaises between design team and various departments to implement visual products. Manages project details, meetings, and customer consultations regarding scope, specs, feasibility, milestones, and costs. Determines project scope, design, and logistics based on audience and resources. Ingeniously designs portable, weather-resistant, and easy-to-assemble structures for varied environments and exhibit spaces. Requirements Conditions of employment U.S. Citizenship or National Suitable for Federal Employment Registered for Selective Service - Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or be exempt from Selective Service. (See http://www.ssa.gov/) This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination. Pay for first time hires to the Federal Government will typically be set at step 1 salary range for their respective grade level. Obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance. Qualifications Basic Requirement: All applicants must have one of the following, must provide transcripts to verify Basic Requirements have been met: 1.Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. OR 2.Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes planning the preparation and use of photographs, illustrations, drawings, and other art work, charts, diagrams, dioramas, maps, slides, overlays, and other kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means. AND In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess specialized experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as: design and development of technology-based (interactive multi-media) presentations; print/digital projects and video teleconferencing; and planning, organizing, and executing Multimedia department operations. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level. Official Transcripts: If the position you are applying for has a positive degree requirement or education forms the basis for qualifications (i.e. you would not qualify without the education obtained), you MUST submit transcripts with your application. Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants educated in whole or in part in foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree. You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation upon request. Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.
