Summary
This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, John F. Kennedy Library. Incumbent serves as an Education Specialist responsible for the development, organization, coordination and implementation of the Library's class visit program for students; programs for senior citizens; and professional development programs for teachers.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. - A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.

- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- Obtain and use a government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- The work is relatively sedentary. Incumbent operates in many different areas of the Library; thus considerable walking and standing is required. In dealing with students a certain physical agility is very helpful, to maintain a "lively atmosphere."

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position at the GS-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled . Specialized experience is defined as experience:
Designing and facilitating professional development programs for educators at the K-16 level that includes best practices for integrating primary resources and archival material into classroom instruction OR developing curriculum materials for museum exhibitions and/or hands on educational components for integration into museum exhibitions;
AND
Delivering K-12 educational content using archival or museum collections to promote the use of those collections to the widest audience possible;
AND
Assisting various audiences with research and instructional methods.
OR
EDUCATION: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Only graduate level education in excess of the first two years (36 hours or more) can be combined to meet the experience. One year of full-time graduate education is considered 18 semester hours. Example: Six-months of appropriate specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 and 36 semester hours of appropriate education, equal 100% qualifying experience.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled . Specialized experience is defined as experience:
Delivering K-12 educational content using archival or museum collections to promote the use of those collections to the widest audience possible;
AND
Assisting various audiences with research and instructional methods.
OR
EDUCATION: 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours (27 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. The total percentage of education and experience must equal 100% to qualify.
Education
Individual Occupational Requirements:
Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
