Summary You will serve as Senior Acoustic Intelligence Reconstruction Analyst at the GG-13 grade level within the Submarine Warfare Operations Research Division (SWORD) of NIMITZ Warfare Analysis Center at the Office of Naval Intelligence. SWORD provides support to the Navy warfighters, planners and naval system developers by conducting all source analysis of foreign naval anti-submarine warfare (ASW) tactics, techniques, procedures, and proficiencies to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities. Learn more about this agency Duties You will apply an in-depth understanding of LOFAR gram analysis and beamforming techniques to daily acoustic analysis using specialized signal processing and analysis equipment and software installed in the National ACINT Laboratory (NAIL). You will employ an extensive level of knowledge on the acoustic signatures of foreign naval platforms, employed acoustic sensors, and underwater weapon systems. You will represent NIMITZ and ONI in a variety of intelligence community and broader Navy forums; preparing and presenting briefings to high level audiences. You will maintain extensive liaison with associate analysts, particularly on issues that cross into scientific and technical areas. You will provide continuity to mentor and train junior acoustic analysts in the division. You will apply a proficient understanding of Target Motion Analysis (TMA) techniques to include the application and effects of acoustic signature dynamics to support reconstruction of various tactical events. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment. Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period requirement. This position may be subject to polygraph examination. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS/GG-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector such as: 1) Performing advanced acoustic analysis on foreign naval platforms to include ships, submarines, aircraft, underwater sensors, and underwater weapon systems. 2) Demonstrated application of Target Motion Analysis (TMA) techniques to include the application of tactically relevant acoustic information. 3) Developing detailed acoustic reports and other products that fully represent the tactical picture of specific events from an acoustic perspective; 4) Effective communication, both orally and written, to include senior level communications and support.
