Summary About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center in the Directorate of Executive Quality Management in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Learn more about this agency Duties Serves as team leader ensuring that operational components of the Professional Affairs Branch are planned, coordinated, implemented and evaluated. Reviews and updates local policies on credentials review and clinical privileging. Researches and reviews literature relating to credentialing and clinical privileging in order to keep abreast of trends, governing regulations and directives, and requirements for obtaining/maintaining appropriate credentials. Ensures that only personnel designated have access to the practitioner credentials file and that no material is inserted or removed without appropriate approval. Responsible for ensuring that the subordinate staff understands and appropriately use databases supporting the credentialing processes and personnel management systems found within Professional Affairs Branch. Refers issues involving health care providers (HCPs) who have civilian actions that affect licensure and or clinical practice to the Risk Manager and assists in the management of those cases. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. Position may be designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Using computerized systems to perform routine checks of healthcare provider qualifications to verify providers meet basic organizational requirements; 2) Assisting in preparing reports to identify discrepancies in routine quality assurance reviews; 3) Providing support in identifying credentialing or privileging issues to senior staff, following established hospital or clinic policies and procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. Education above high school level completed in a college, university, or other educational institution must be accredited by one of the accrediting agencies or associations recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education.
