Summary This position is located at Yano Fitness Center, Camp Zama. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Duties Serves as lifeguard for indoor/outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager or pool supervisor. Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from any hazards. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures for disciplinary actions Maintains daily logs and records as required. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable). A one-year probationary period may be required. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2. Incumbent may also required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities. Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period. Physical and immunization is required. May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements. Subject to additional background checks for having regular and recurring contact with children. Eligible citizenship is U.S. citizen or non-U.S. citizen under Japan/U.S. SOFA agreement. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinary resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement. Must be available to work various shift: Weekdays: 0445-1345/1015-1915, Weekend: 0915-1815, Summer and Holidays: 0930- 1830 Qualifications Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess and maintains the following: Lifeguard (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent (i.e. Star Guard or Ellis); First Aid. Customer service experience. In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis Lifeguard Instructor Certification; OR American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis Water Safety Instructor Certification. In addition, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty. Qualifications must be clearly verifiable in your resume and submit certificates. Government positions must include pay plan, series, grade, to and from dates, and government agency/department. Management may subsequently request to review a referral list of all minimally qualified applicants. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Allowances and Differentials This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Foreign overseas allowances, post allowance, and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility. Post Allowance will be not paid. Living Quarter Allowance (LQA) is not authorized.
