Microsoft's Divestitures, Acquisitions, and Ventures Accounting (DAVA) team has the unique opportunity to lead, plan and execute the accounting and integration management of newly acquired companies into the Microsoft financial reporting ecosystem. The Role:
We are hiring a Group (M&A) Finance Manager to work with a diverse, highly motivated and talented team working on integrating acquired companies into Microsoft as well as managing divestitures/ spinoffs.   • Accounting Integration Strategy & Plans - Establish and/ or mature various acquisition & integration strategies with various partner teams, create and maintain USGAAP based foundation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting, processes, engagement model and ways of working through a collaborative and iterative mindset. Serve as knowledge source/liaison for acquired subsidiaries and other extended M&A teams regarding Microsoft policy, procedures, and tools, as well as leading the subject matter experts to provide training, communication, and accounting guidance on various topics.

  • Integration accounting management - Responsible for driving purchase accounting activities; collaborating with acquired entity accounting team and valuation partners to implement various integration strategies, detailed planning and co-ordination activities across team members, organizing partnering teams including MAVS and other critical functional pillars within an integrated IMO. You will lead the success of the team's practice, operations and core priorities.

  • Integration Roadmap - Ability to interact with diverse finance and non-finance groups spanning all organizational levels to build on compliant accounting integration roadmaps. Influencing and leading a high-functioning statutory controllership community responsible for acquired entity statutory filing and sustainable health through its life cycle management.

  • Model, Coach and Care - Empower and enable all the critical functions that the DAVA team is chartered with. You will not only lead to drive qualify-first technical deliverables but also will serve as a strong cultural influencer with intense focus on talent development of the team.

Skills:
  • People management (required): Ability to learn and grasp concepts quickly in a fast-paced environment and has a track record of previously leading people through complex projects (team or v-team) with attention to detail, organization, structure and process. You demonstrate an ability to insert yourself in various aspects of empowering and influencing people to deliver a successful outcome.
  • Developing complex analysis, planning and solutions (required): Proficient in bringing together pertinent stakeholders, building consensus, able to draft and articulate complex finance infrastructure modeling or financial reporting topics, including integration approaches, points of view, solutions options and roadmaps, presenting and getting buy in from executive stakeholders, and can communicate with a broad set of business stakeholders.
  • M&A experience (required): You have a deep understanding of purchasing accounting, fair value evaluation, external reporting and conversant with change management, can take a big picture view to look across process/ functional areas, identify dependencies, translate business needs. You understand core finance infrastructure concepts such as reporting hierarchy, master data management, close management, and system landscape etc.

Ability to generate trust, build alliances across the organization, and orchestrate interdisciplinary teams to the benefit of the acquiring business, the acquired business, and related employees.
  • Customer Focus - A focus on delivering customer value and being able to directly tie decisions and actions to that value. Create a strategic integration roadmap and drive it to successful implementation.
  • Drive For Results - Being able to drive for results, following a problem through to its conclusion by engaging with relevant stakeholders, building definition and consensus and helping to solve it.
QualificationsRequired:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 10+ years accounting or finance experience
  • OR Master's Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field AND 8+ years accounting or finance experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in deliver complex/or critical external filing related function
  • 2+ years of experience in managing cross functional, cross organizational and business combination related programs
  • Experience managing programs with senior visibility and reporting, e.g. Director/Senior Director, General Manager, Vice President or Audit Committee
Preferred:
  • 4+ years of experience in M&A accounting in industry/ consulting capacity with solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls
  • Exposure to core ERP system integration
