Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and assisting with various accounting functions. This role requires proficiency in accounting software and a solid understanding of financial principles to support our corporate finance objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents.
• Verify invoice coding and obtain required approvals.
• Enter invoices and credit notes into the accounting system.
• Prepare and process weekly payment runs (EFT, cheques).
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payments and account status.
• Maintain organized and complete A/P records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.

Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage deadlines and high-volume transactions.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Have a driver’s license.
• Exposure to project-based or construction accounting considered an asset.
• Knowledge of progress billing, holdbacks, or grants considered an asset.
• Working toward CPA designation considered an asset.
