Actuarial Technician , Actuarial Modernization

Job Summary

The Sr. Actuarial Technician assists the Actuarial Modernization team with the development of tools and automation . This role will work independently to validate tests results. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops tools and models.
• Works independently on specific aspects of a project or product development, supporting initiatives such as new modeling use cases, products, reinsurance strategies and regulatory changes.
• Validates test results and automation.
• Collaborates across teams.
• Analyzes results, demonstrating knowledge of actuarial concepts and processes.
• Assists in the improvement of processes and documentation.
• Is able to work independently on projects showcasing autonomy.
• Functions as a subject matter expert in Actuarial concepts
• Contributes to the preparation and acts as an active participant in team and project meetings

Experience and Education Requirements

• Bachelors Degree preferred. preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or other related technical field
• 2-4 years experience in Financial Services Industry. Minimum years of experience - 1 year
• Experience with life or annuity products preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint)

• Demonstrate ability to apply actuarial principles to complex situations
• Ability to learn and utilize various software systems
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills that include advanced analytical and reasoning abilities
• Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and is able to operate efficiently in unpredictable and challenging project environments
• Must be extremely detail oriented, analytical and be able to handle multiple projects
• Team player who has the ability to function as a key member of a small group
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

• Perform other functions, duties and projects as assigned
• Regular and punctual attendance
• Some travel required (less than 10%)
