A majority of Pie's future premium is expected to come from distribution partners such as payroll companies, wholesale agents, and retail agents. As an extension of Pie, these distribution partners must operate with a customer-first mentality and share Pie's goal for disciplined profitable underwriting. The Affinity Partners Manager will be responsible for developing and managing referral partnerships from affinity, payroll and other sources, and building a set of leads with companies that refer their customers to Pie for insurance coverage.
This role is a remote position and as a remote team member, you will be expected to be available for meetings with team members in other time zones and have access to reliable, high-speed internet. This role may require up to 20% travel to our Denver and/or DC offices or partner locations.
How You'll Do It
Partner Development
  • Work with the sales management to identify, develop, structure and close complex partnership deals with target partner organizations that deliver enduring value to the business.
  • Leverage existing connections to build and cultivate a deep and trusted network amongst influential decision makers within key target organizations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure pitches to prospective partners are delivered effectively, with clarity on the product solution.
  • Identify and execute new sales opportunities with prospective partners across various industries (payroll companies, affinity groups, financial institutions, small business system providers).
  • Develop market research, assess industry data and trends. Demonstrate deep understanding of competitors product lines and market trends thereby enabling effective negotiations with a variety of potential partners.

Partner Management
  • Work with internal departments during implementation, ensuring timely delivery of solutions that meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop various sales collateral to support business development.
  • Establish clearly defined goals for each partner relationship, and update and maintain proper reporting metrics and funnel management.
  • Monitor partner performance and adjust strategy & practices to continuously improve results.

The Right Stuff
  • A High School diploma is required for this position, and a Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a sales/prospecting capacity with affinity or other channel partners
  • 3+ years of experience in an insurance-related industry and sound understanding of insurance business financials
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and convert new strategic partners and work with executive level client teams to structure complex deals that provide value to both Pie and the Partner
  • Expertise in contract negotiation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced communication skills, to deliver complex information effectively and align people with the needs of the project, team, or relationship
  • Dynamic presentation skills both in person and through virtual platforms like Zoom
  • Commercial insurance designations a plus (CIC, AAI, CRM, CPCU, etc.)

Base compensation for position: $119,000
This is an incentive pay based position and as such, there is no guaranteed commission amount. The on-target earnings (OTE) for this role are approximately $170,000 and are based on successfully meeting performance expectations.

Location Information
Unless otherwise specified, this role has the option to be hybrid or remote. Hybrid work locations provide team members with the flexibility of working partially from our Denver or DC office and from home. Remote team members must live and work in the United States* (*territories excluded), and have access to reliable, high-speed internet.
