Job Description

About the Job

You will be working with the Compute organization, in the Infrastructure space within Cigna. The everyday work our organization takes on, as well as the work being done to integrate Cigna, Express Scripts, and Evernorth, is extensive. We are looking for an experienced, eager Agilist to join our team of Agile Product Managers (APMs) to help our organization intake, plan, and deliver work. This is an excellent opportunity to join a team that is constantly maturing in their agile development, and work on efforts that impact the entire enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizing Agile metrics for insight on productivity, capacity, and growth is essential. Using that data to identify areas of opportunity, while partnering with Agile leadership and delivery experts to coach and continuously improve the team, is an important part of this role
  • Agile Ceremonies - You will be responsible for facilitating agile meetings/ceremonies for a Scrum/Kanban team(s), ensuring that the engineers and leader understand the benefit and criticality of the Agile Framework
  • You will assist with the communication between your team and other teams within the enterprise, to intake work, improve transparency, remove impediments, mitigate risks, and examine dependencies
  • You will be collaborating closely with your fellow APMs for driving cross team planning to better anticipate and manage the dependencies that may have a negative impact to your team's delivery capability
  • It will be crucial to educate your team on capacity and velocity, helping them understand the amount of work they are able to complete for a Program Increment, and not exceeding it. Backlog refinement sessions and comparative sizing will be essential in this effort
  • Work with your team to help plan the Program Increments and follow all of the organization's standards that are set for Jira
  • Attend team collaboration meetings with the Global Product Manager (GPM) in order for everyone to stay up to date on projects, critical path items, blockers, or re-prioritized efforts
  • Help leadership create and decompose road maps, in order to fully visualize the effort and delivery timelines
  • Ensure the team's continuous improvement by motivating, coaching, acting as a change agent
  • Optimizing the flow of work within and across teams
  • Support the product owner in making sure the product backlog is in good shape and up to date, so that re-prioritizing work before committing to it can be handled with ease
  • Provide regular and open communication across programs and with stakeholders for transparency and awareness of progress and impediments
  • Protect your team from off the side of the desk work, by enforcing the organization's intake process
  • Understand the projects your team is working on at a high level, in order to share progress, priority status, and dependencies with other teams
  • Teach, mentor, and coach teams on emerging Agile and Lean methods

Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience as an Agile Product Manager, Scrum Master or Kanban manager, working in an enterprise level organization
  • Preferably someone with experience/knowledge in Infrastructure and technology
  • Understanding Agile metrics, some of which include throughput, cycle time, CFD, and lead time
  • Servant leadership, facilitation, conflict resolution, and continuous improvement
  • Excellent problem-solving, and strategic thinking
  • Ability to influence, mentor, and focus on results
  • Ability to effectively navigate a fast paced, highly matrixed organization
  • Ability to remove barriers and enable teams to complete their objectives
  • Proven ability to present and communicate at all levels with clarity and precision, both written and verbally
  • A proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders, mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach, resolve conflict, deliver tough messages with grace, and execute with limited information, and ambiguity
  • Agile tools experience such as Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint

Licensures/Certifications:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe® Scrum Master (SSM) , Kanban systems design, Kanban systems improvement, or any other Agile Certifications are a plus

Education

  • Formal Education and/or Training: Bachelor's degree in computer science, project management or related field desired
