The Technology Innovation team at Point72 focuses on researching and experimenting with a broad range of technologies that could bring transformational impact to our firm. We conduct research in areas such as applied quantum technology, novel non-traditional computing paradigms, applied artificial intelligence, heterogenous architectures, digital reality, and other areas.

What you’ll do:

You will prioritize areas of research based on the impact of quantum technology/computing on the financial services and asset management industry. You will collaborate with internal teams for identifying use-cases, collaborate with academia and commercial firms to foster research partnerships, and develop relationships with the wider technology industry and startup ecosystems. Specifically, you will:

• Explore and understand the trends within the quantum technology ecosystem, identify use-cases and areas of relevant research, particularly as they apply to financial services
• Conceive quantum-inspired and NISQ compatible algorithms
• Develop quantum computing code for relevant Point72 use cases
• Conduct in-house research and offer thought leadership in a collaborative framework with in-house teams and external parties
• Collaborate with academia, industry and start up ecosystems to conduct joint research and experimentation
• Publish whitepapers, position papers, technology reports and research papers around quantum technology
• Champion and foster a culture of innovation at all levels of the organization
• Partner with Compliance  to ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements and Point72 Compliance policies

What’s required:

• D. background in quantum mechanics, physics, computer science, mathematics, or other engineering disciplines
• Familiarity with algorithms for solving combinatorial optimization problems using quantum algorithms (such as QAOA, VQE), gate-based circuit computing, hybrid classical-quantum workflow, quantum machine learning, quantum annealing, near-term quantum algorithm techniques
• Experience with quantum programming environments such as Qiskit, Pennylane, Amazon Braket, CUDA Quantum, TensorFlow quantum, or other related systems
• Strong experience in programming with Python or other programming languages
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate complex concepts
• Curiosity, a willingness to embrace uncertainty and be comfortable with failure while exploring with new ideas
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards

The annual base salary range for this role is $250,000-$300,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
