THE OPPORTUNITY:
This position will be located in Abbott Park, IL or Chicago, IL.
Abbott's Global Procurement Services (GPS) is a corporate division supporting procurement and supply chain activities across all Abbott businesses. The Supply Chain Sustainability (SCS) team partners across Abbott businesses and functions (such as Operations, Supply Chain, EHS, Legal, External Affairs, etc.), as well as strategic external partners, to drive the strategic direction and management of supply chain sustainability, governance, and programming to all levels of the organization. The Specialist reports to the corporation's Manager of Supply Chain Sustainability Due Diligence within GPS:SCS team.
The Supply Chain Sustainability Specialist is responsible for executing Abbott's supply chain sustainability governance and programming to all levels of the organization. This includes elevating Abbott's profile as a global sustainability leader and contributing to the operationalization of the company's 2030 Sustainability Plan and strategy across the organization. This role will work closely with various functions and divisions across the Abbott organization, as well as suppliers to drive supply chain sustainability due diligence and supplier engagements in support of Abbott's 2030 Supply Chain Sustainability Goals and external expectations. The Specialist will also serve as a subject matter expert, helping to identify and facilitate improving the sustainability of Abbott's supply chain in partnership with suppliers and other external partners.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
- First line responder pivoting between strategy and operations; responsible for formulating, promoting, and executing supply chain sustainability governance, programs and reporting, as assigned, in support of Abbott 2030 Sustainability Plan and external expectations.
- Partner with Division and Category procurement functions, Sustainability Liaisons, and other Abbott stakeholder groups to drive supply chain sustainability considerations into day-to-day category management strategies, decision making and supplier activities
- Acts as a resource to Abbott and supplier stakeholders to identify, build and implement strategies, programs and initiatives that will address Abbott-supplier shared sustainability impacts across Abbott's value chain (i.e., human rights, CO2 emissions, water risk, and inbound materials that become Abbott waste).
- Drive project, program and data management for tactical implementation of enterprise-level supplier engagement programs to drive integration of sustainability into category management strategies and decision making.
- Maintain performance metrics, tools, reporting processes, systems and communications.
- Develop and provide supply chain sustainability content, training and communications for a variety of internal and external Abbott stakeholders.
- Analyze complex problems, delivers solutions and implement process improvements for sustainability issue management across Abbott's value chain.
- Serve as liaison to external organizations, conduct benchmarking studies and track industry trends and best practices.
- Represent Abbott's expectations, values and priorities to internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, industry organizations, NGOs, etc.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Systems thinker with 0-2 years of experience in social and/or environmental sustainability and ESG, supply chain and operations management, or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, or equivalent.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point (or note Microsoft Office)
- Flexible to work within a matrix organization; at ease within a fast paced, demanding, goal driven environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Subject matter expertise in sustainability and ESG topics preferred.
- Strong communications (presentation, written and verbal) skills.
- Experience working collaboratively and building strong partnerships across teams.
- Ability to make independent decisions and demonstrate a high level of initiative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences, while optimizing overall organizational goals.
- Good interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.

$46,700.00 - $93,300.00
