Job Description

As an A/V Design Engineer, you will be an integral part of the team, working together with the sales team to best communicate and address client A/V needs, mainly focusing on designing, programming, and commissioning entertainment systems for a wide variety of themed attractions and entertainment venues. You will be establishing the requirements and expectations for the client, while compiling appropriate documentation and technical drawings for the A/V systems you design. You will be working with project managers, clients, and other client vendors to ensure a correct system installation, while also providing technical support through troubleshooting and training where required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in Theme Park or Theater Production A/V Integration and design of projects above $10mil in value. OSHA 10 or 30 hour is a plus.
  • BS in audiovisual, Mechanical, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or another related field - preferred.
  • AVIXA CTS or CTS-D certification preferred.
  • Dante level 3 required.
  • Other key manufacturer certifications are a plus (e.g. QSC, Crestron, Shure, BIAMP, etc.)
  • Advanced Knowledge of AutoCAD required.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be able to read architectural, engineering, and construction schematics and communicate design intent.
  • Revit not required but a plus.
  • BIM coordination might be required, therefore a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Design, analyze, evaluate, engineer, and integrate large-scale & complex Audio-Visual systems and solutions in the theme park industry.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the design, engineering, installation and planning of audio, video, and control solutions.
  • Understand and comply to industry recognized standards, performance specifications, local AHJ jurisdictions and code compliance.
  • Create Technical Documentation including but not limited to design drawings, engineering calculations, acoustic studies, pixel mapping, 3D projection studies, custom parts, and testing criteria that implements the full intent of entertainment systems.
  • Proficiency in switching and routing, control systems, display devices, scalers, amplifiers, speakers, microphones, rack layouts, and basic network topology, terminology & protocols.
  • Interpret blueprints, construction drawings, CAD wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Collaborate with the project team and client in establishing accurate and effective solutions for the clients.
  • Create equipment specifications and bill of materials budgets for cost estimating, purchasing, and procurement.
  • Support the project team in products and specialized equipment research and system manuals.
  • Markup A/V installation drawings
  • Conduct site visits and review installation standards, conduct factory acceptance system testing prior to system site delivery, write plans and perform onsite the verification, and commission the system for Site Acceptance and per contract and client requirements.
  • Provide client training.
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
