AVP, Valuation Modernization

Job Summary

The Actuary, AIM Models responsibility is to develop actuarial models used at F&G.  The position will collaborate with various teams to get the correct data into the models, out of the models, into analysis tools, and into the general ledger.  This position will need to analyze & communicate results as well as explain simplifications & system limitations to various Stakeholders in the company. 

Organization

This position will be visible within the organization; all large projects that impact the models will come through our department. Management and development of 1-2 individuals may also be required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead modeling actuary on larger projects, such as, but not limited to new product launches, new reserving regulation, and new reinsurance deals.
• Ensure that the models are efficient, sustainable, accurate, & explainable.
• Analyze & communicate resultsof models to stakeholders
• Collaborate with various teams to understand the requirements of the modeling project, identify all teams that will be impacted by the project, present results to Stakeholders
• Meet project milestones, communicate potential blockers early, recommend mitigation strategies
• Serve as an F&G expert on the actuarial models.
• Serve as the point person to explain the model as well as train others on how to use it.

Experience and Education Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics or other related area
• Minimum ASA, FSA preferred
• 5+ years of related actuarial experience
• Experience with and knowledge of GGY-AXIS preferred or similar actuarial modeling software is required
• Experience within the Registed Indexed Linked Annuity, Fixed Indexed Annuity, Indexed Universal Life or Pension Risk Transfer lines of business, as well as reinsurance preferred
• Experience with modeling applications that calculate or project US statutory and US GAAP quantities (e.g., Valuation, Pricing, Asset Liability Management, Cash Flow Testing)

• Team player who has the ability to function as a key member of a small group in which members of the team work with great autonomy; take a high degree of ownership for their areas of responsibility (subject matter expert)
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
• Ability to learn and utilize actuarial software systems
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills a plus
