Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have a choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Hands-on software engineering from design doc to rollout to millions of users
• Primarily using Java and MySql on AWS
• Building robust, trustworthy, scalable integrations with payment processors
• Contributing to the operational health of our payment infrastructure
• Communicating with your team and vendors to share knowledge and align on the best solution

You're probably a match if

• you have experience building and shipping financial software written in Java
• you have broad knowledge of relational databases and Cloud (AWS) concepts
• you understand the challenges of distributed systems and working at scale (think queues, idempotency, eventual consistency, Big O complexity)
• you are interested in learning the workings of payment systems worldwide
• you can facilitate knowledge sharing and communicate effectively to non-technical stakeholders within the group
• you model initiative and ownership in achieving goals, improving processes and solutions.

About the team

In Revenue Platform, we are on a mission to unlock the full value of Canva by empowering everyone, anywhere to pay and be paid seamlessly. The Payment Gateways team is on a mission to enable millions more people to pay Canva by developing rock-solid global payment distribution network. The team works with both international payment service providers and local specialists. This is central to Canva’s foundational revenue and profitability goals.
