The Opportunity

The Brand Manager - Reimbursement and Payer Relations position works out of our Columbus, OH location in the Nutrition Division.

What You'll Work On

Reimbursement and Patient Access Strategy

  • Develop and execute against Abbott Nutrition's reimbursement strategy to protect/improve coverage of enteral nutrition and ONS
  • Lead assessment of reimbursement landscape (coding, coverage and payment) for all new product innovation
  • Provide consultation and share recommendations with cross-functional partners when establishing price strategies for new and existing products to ensure patient access
  • Lead efforts to drive Abbott Nutrition's market access priorities through policy/reimbursement trade association and leverage trade association to increase patient access to specialized nutritional therapies through education and collaboration
  • Manage and oversee third-party administration of reimbursement hub and patient assistance programs while operating within budget and meeting all performance metrics. Includes analyzing coverage outcome reports and sharing with leadership, ensuring compliance with operating procedures and scripting, developing program resources and responding to Field Sales Force escalations
  • Execute against Abbott's Medicare Advantage (MA) strategy and commercial activation plan
  • Maintain technical expertise in government and commercial reimbursement policies and serve as subject matter expert
  • Monitor Medicare, Medicaid and private payer reimbursement data and represent reimbursement matters in brand planning process.

Payer Relationship and Coding Management

  • Own direct relationships with public and private payers to ensure patients have appropriate access to Abbott Nutrition's products
  • Lead contracting strategy with California Medicaid to maximize patient access and ensure product placement on formulary
  • Complete HCPCS coding verification applications for new and reformulated nutritional products and submit to the PDAC - Contractor for Pricing, Data Analysis and Coding of HCPCS Level II DMEPOS Codes (contracted by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) for timely review and code assignment.
  • Oversee NDC-format Code application submissions to data warehouses for all Abbott Nutrition brands and manage incoming data warehouse requests

Fields Sales Force Support and Reimbursement Education and Resource Management

  • Develop marketing and sales communication to accurately reflect health policy and reimbursement information while ensuring messaging remains within divisional and corporate policies and complies with industry laws and regulations
  • Develop and execute training programs that address changing payer policies, regulations and healthcare trends that could impact Abbott Nutrition and its customers while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Complete annual updating of all reimbursement and patient access materials
  • Review all marketing materials that contain reimbursement and patient access information across all business units
  • Manage and maintain Abbott Nutrition's reimbursement support program website

Miscellaneous

Respond to and ensure compliance with audit requests

Support marketing teams as needed with brand initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5 years reimbursement/payer management experience. Experience in the healthcare industry.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams
  • Time and project management skills, including the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Team working skills; Preferred experience in working with sales team
  • An ability to think strategically and develop annual activation plans
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • An understanding of trends and an ability to respond to changing customer needs
  • Creativity and an ability to produce innovative and original ideas
  • The ability to manage and allocate budgets
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with and an understanding of market research and data
  • Sales experience a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
