Job Summary

The Business Development Initiatives Manager will be experienced in technology, business, and marketing with the expertise to play an integral role in the execution of corporate strategy to enable the profitable growth of the Company. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Planning and Development, this role will be a key member of the business team charged with delivering on corporate objectives through the sourcing, evaluating, and then successfully negotiating various alliances and collaborations with target incubator or start-up companies. Key functional responsibilities will include direct customer engagement through muRata channels, technology scouting, industry and emerging market and company analysis, competitive analysis, technology planning and business development initiatives. The initial role will be for direct support of the WiFi and associated products and markets.

Roles & Responsibilities

This position has responsibility for:
  • Ensure alignment of corporate technology development strategy and planning with Murata Manufacturing Company (MMC) business units
  • Accompany muRata to end customer meeting as requested
  • Support the internal WiFi development teams at both pSemi and Murata with market, product, and development intelligence
  • Assess and evaluate existing and emerging technologies and make recommendations for acquisition, incubation, IP licensing, or other mutually beneficial partnerships
  • Research target company technology to determine synergies, alignment, and integration with pSemi technology strategy
  • Partner with business unit leaders to enable a technology acquisition plan
  • Partner with incubator organizations to identify external technology and propose acquisition strategies
  • Actively participate in key corporate strategic planning processes, working across businesses and functions to frame the corporate strategy and lead alignment and execution on key initiatives
  • Develop deep relationships with departmental leadership and work closely to support the execution of key strategic priorities for the pSemi's business departments
  • Support the marketing function through research and analysis of company's markets, competition, and product mix
  • Analyze competitive environment and future trends and make recommendations based on findings
  • Develop proposals and themes for corporate investment in research to prove out startup or other new technology opportunities
  • Collect key performance indicators from product, market, and technology to line up opportunities that will fill pSemi's technology pipeline
  • Support evaluation of M&A, partnership, and technology licensing opportunities, conduct due diligence, develop business cases, build detailed financial models (DCF, comps, accretion / dilution), and work closely with internal leaders, IP department and external advisors
  • Publish regular updates on market conditions to track company progress on product technology disciplines

Minimum Qualifications (Experience and Skills)
  • 10+ years of RFIC and Semiconductor technology and product experience with the ability to identify differentiated technology that is valued by pSemi and its stakeholders
  • Experience in or more of the following areas in a Semiconductor company
    • Corporate Development
    • Business Development
    • Product Marketing
    • Finance
    • Research and Development
  • Demonstrated project management experience setting goals, planning, and managing projects to navigate risk, budgets, cost, time and cross functional teams
  • Must be a strategic thinker and an excellent communicator to present, assert and speak to stakeholders both internal and external at various levels
  • Experience building internal and external relationships to influence, manage conflicts, and navigate projects to a successful conclusion.
  • Ability to diplomatically work through corporate cultures and competing motivations to create a win-win scenarios for corporate development projects that span multiple departments and organizations
  • Strong research and strategic analysis skills are essential, including financial planning and strategy
  • Experience developing budgets
  • Self-motivated yet customer-focused
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business management or electrical engineering
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Business Management - preferred
