About the Team: 

STR’s Analytics Division develops novel solutions to the most challenging national security problems through advanced analytics. Our teams consist of motivated individuals with degrees in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, and data science. We use our expertise and creativity to take innovative ideas from conception to everyday use by our customers. 

The Intelligence Tools and Applications (ITA) Group in the Analytics Division researches and develops novel analytic capabilities for operational users. We build solutions that make a difference in sensemaking and counter sensemaking, using data in new and interesting ways to support our customers’ missions. 

The Role: 

The ITA Group is seeking a Business Manager to oversee the Group’s internal operations matters, with particular emphasis on financial management. The Business Manager will also support a range of Group operations leadership needs, including support for staffing, contracting, and security. Responsibilities as the Business Manager will require organization of supporting activities, and coordination of these functions across staff in other STR groups, divisions, and sectors. 

The Business Manager will also serve as Program Manager (PM) for a small number of programs, overseeing financial and contractual needs for those programs, and supporting the program technical leadership more broadly as needed. As PM, the Manager will ensure cost, schedule and progress metrics are completed and tracked within plan; engage with project stakeholders to communicate status and plan future efforts; track interactions with Security, and manage and track subcontractor efforts to ensure proper execution. 

A successful candidate will have significant demonstrated experience in financial reporting and forecasting. Candidates should also have significant demonstrated experience collaborating on complex matters to reach mutually beneficial ends among diverse stakeholders. Strong interpersonal, communication, mentorship, and peer-leadership skills are essential for this position. 

This position is based in one of our offices, but will take advantage of STR’s flexible, hybrid environment – when the work does not require use of STR’s facilities, you are welcome to work remotely.  

Who You Are: 

• Ability to obtain a security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government
  
• Experienced business management professional with 10+ years’ experience working in financial reporting and systems
• At least 5+ years’ experience managing teams
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
• Experience in leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience managing business processes in the defense industry
• Strong presentation and organizational skills
