Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access. 

1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the vast majority do not get the care they need. The primary reason is cost: the majority of therapists do not accept insurance, meaning paying for therapy is prohibitively expensive for prospective patients. That’s why Headway is building the first software-enabled network of therapists who accept health insurance, making it easy for therapists to grow their practices, and possible for patients to find quality care they can afford. 

We launched in April of 2019 and are now powering 200,000+ appointments per month. To scale our vision, we’ve raised over $100 million in funding from a16z, Thrive, Accel, and Google Ventures.

As Headway grows, so do the volume and complexity of the challenges we face. In order to tackle these business-critical challenges with speed and operational excellence, we built the Business Operations and Strategy team. 

The team is made up of people from a wide array of backgrounds. We share the desire to push our intellect, the drive for excellence, communication skills, and the relentless focus to own the outcomes of our work. We are placed on challenging, rewarding projects throughout Headway, and seeking similarly motivated people to join our team.

The day-to-day specifics of members of our team vary, but typically involve a hybrid of analytical, strategic, and operational skills. As a member of our team, you would embed deeply across all three sides of our marketplace (Provider, Patient, Payer) and across various functions at Headway. The members of the team have surged on mission critical initiatives, such as new market launches, accelerating the company’s north star metric, experimenting with new demand generation channels, standing up Patient Marketing function, and supporting Payer Business Development.

You will:

  • Own the execution and the outcome. You will be deployed on the company’s hardest problems and will be expected to clarify and then achieve outcomes in varied and often ambiguous environments. You will own the plan, the resourcing, the execution and the outcome. Vision and strategy are great, but mean nothing without execution – so we share a heavy focus on execution to make life-changing outcomes happen faster. Those outcomes get bigger and bigger as you progress!
  • Impact every area of our business. You will partner with functional teams to diagnose and solve these highly complex problems. The impact of your work will often touch every team at Headway, such as Provider Growth, EPD, payer BD, and CX. Because of the highly cross-functional nature of the role, you will also pollinate best practices and elevate operational excellence across the org.
  • Build a team of entrepreneurial leaders. We believe in investing in each other in order to invest in Headway. You will mentor other members of the team on tough problems they are solving, and will invest in hiring and growing the BizOps team.
