Job Description

The Alexandria VA Medical Center in Alexandria/Pineville, LA, is seeking a full-time, BC/BE, non-invasive Cardiologist to serve as a member of its Cardiology Team. Highlights of this position include:

Competitive Starting Salary $350,000-$400,000
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm., NO CALL
Provide Cardiology care for inpatients and outpatients at the facility and select Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs)
Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with cardiac diseases
Deliver interventions throughout the full spectrum of Cardiology care
Perform full general cardiology examinations on established or newly consulted patients, including electronic consultations (e-Consults) in the Cardiology clinics or Urgent Care Department for signs or symptoms of cardiac disease
Supervise and interpret exercise stress tests
Input progress/consult notes for inpatient and outpatient encounters within prescribed timelines
Ability to recognize patient signs of physical distress and monitor the patient's condition
Knowledge of computerized patient records systems

Additional Requirements:

Board Certified/BE in Cardiology
Certified in Nuclear Cardiology
Five (5) years of experience
Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not found
Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State

Annual performance bonus up to an additional $15K per year

Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and separate 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Possible 5 days for CME’s and up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification)
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), if approved
Recruitment or Relocation may be authorized for highly qualified candidates
No Physician Employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
