Cardiothoracic Surgeon Opportunity in Historic Bluff City
Job Description
The Medical Center consists of one main campus and ten community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). The Medical Center is a 1a complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The facility provides comprehensive care to almost 69,000 enrolled Veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for pre-operative, operative, and postoperative care of patients to correct or treat various pathological conditions of the heart and related blood vessels and structures within the chest
- Responsible for the care of patients with congenital and acquired pathologic conditions within the chest to include the heart, coronary arteries, myocardium, pericardium, lungs, esophagus, chest wall, and diaphragm
- Experienced and responsible for minimally invasive thoracic surgery and valve reconstruction
- Responsibilities include clinical activities supporting multi-disciplinary programs in chest oncology, research, teaching, and training residents/fellows
- Responsible for providing the patient with risks, benefits and alternative treatments and securing the informed consent of the patient/family prior to conducting invasive procedures
- Consultation/referral to other services/sections as appropriate
- Experience Based Salary $400,000

- Work Schedule: Mon-Fri: 8AM-4:30PM
- CME Reimbursement: Possible $1000 per year (must be Board Certified)
- Malpractice Liability Protection with tail coverage and no physician contracts
- Board Eligible/Board Certified in Thoracic Surgery
- Experience/training in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery
- Full and unrestricted license from ANY state
- US Citizenship: Non-citizens may be considered when itβs not possible to recruit qualified citizens
- Be proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language
