What you will be doing

As of August 24, 2021, AmerisourceBergen requires all U.S. team members to be fully vaccinated and show proof of completed vaccine status at time of hire. Under general direction of the Category Director - Procurement, responsible for managing a category of products as well as the business relationship between AmerisourceBergen and the respective product suppliers.
  • Works directly with outside Animal Health Manufactures as it relates to policies, issues and profitability.
  • Negotiates contracts, establishes sourcing relationships and manages customer-related programs in designated category; works towards resolving work issues relative to the trading relationship.
  • Collaborates with internal departments such as Sales & Marketing, Finance, Legal and other Procurement entities in order to promote the best interests of AmerisourceBergen.
  • Manages the trade affairs with key strategic suppliers to include negotiating business agreements and settling disputes and/or issues.
  • Represents and positions AmerisourceBergen favorably with suppliers and acts as an advocate for AmerisourceBergen interests relative to suppliers' actions and policies.
  • Generates profit enhancing opportunities such as deals, rebates, allowances and promotional activities for the assigned suppliers.
  • Manages several contracting programs resulting in increased value for both AmerisourceBergen and its customers.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

What your background should look like

Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education. Normally requires a minimum of five (5) years directly related and progressively responsible experience.
  • Must have experience dealing directly with manufactures
  • Contract negotiation experience is a plus
  • Outstanding knowledge of product and supplier base, product relationships and industry trends
  • Working knowledge of sales, purchasing, supply chain management and/or inventory management principles and methodologies
  • Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to work collaboratively across the organization and manage multiple projects of various diverse scope in a cross-functional environment
  • Ability to deal with confrontational issues in a positive manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to implement processes resulting in satisfactory audit practices
  • Strong computer skills in order to operate effectively with company systems and programs; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

$82,300 - 117,920

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
