CDL Class A Driver/Hazmat

Drivers are responsible for carriage of hazardous waste and nonhazardous materials from location to location abiding by all applicable rules and regulations including Federal, state and local jurisdictions. Driver hours are scheduled on a day-to-day basis according to client or project needs. Drivers operate various types of equipment: straight truck, roll-off, dry van, vacuum tanker, and vactor. This is list is not all inclusive. ELI drivers travel various length runs. Although most are local or regional runs, over-the-road runs are necessary. Accountabilities • Ability to drive a Class A truck with tanker endorsement • Load and unload hazardous waste, including biological waste · Inspect hazardous waste storage areas and documentation bills of lading, manifest, invoices, logs, trip reports etc. · Label and organize containers in compliance with all regulations • Responds to emergency situations when called upon • Assist with shipping hazardous waste, including biological waste • Attend and maintain all required training necessary to perform job • Understand, accept and support ELI core values and ELI Safety Program • Availability to work weekends and extended hours as needed • Comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations pertaining to operation of a commercial vehicle • Maintain professionalism when dealing with customers • Perform additional tasks as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Ability • Knowledge of the hazardous waste industry a plus • Ability to work efficiently and effectively • Maintain a clean and organized workspace • Ability to lift 50 pounds • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screen, physical, and drug-screen Education/Experience • Have a clean driving record in the past 3 years with at least 3 years of driver experience • High school education or equivalent • Possess a valid California Commercial Driver’s License with a Hazmat endorsement preferred • Experience in the hazardous materials/waste industry preferred • Successfully completed HAZWOPER 40 hour and DOT general Awareness (must have copies if certified) Job Type: Full-time Pay: $25.00 - $39.00 per hour Benefits: • 401(k) • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Paid time off Trucking Driver Type: • Company driver Trucking Route: • Local • Regional Work Days: • Weekdays • Weekends as needed Ability to Commute: • Hayward, CA 94545 (Required) Ability to Relocate: • Hayward, CA 94545: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person
