Chief Architect for Autonomy (VP)

STR is seeking a Chief Architect for Autonomy to work across the company to develop a cohesive strategy and provide direction, technical oversight and review across the portfolio of autonomy efforts. As part of the strategy, the person will also lead customer engagements across the Defense and Intelligence Communities to develop new autonomy program concepts and ideas. The goal with holding this position at the company level is to have a significant and immediate impact on our national security by leveraging capabilities, expertise and experience from across STR. The Chief Architect of Autonomy will help the company to build out a diverse team to create innovative autonomy solutions. They will also be responsible for all aspects of the business process, working closely with other leaders and will include technical marketing, business development, proposal writing, recruiting, program execution and staff mentoring. The Chief Architect should have experience across the important technologies in the autonomy space, including algorithms, missions and CONOPs, open architectures and software development, along with a proven track record of delivering quality results to customers in the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Communities (IC).
Duties will Include:

• Technical marketing to existing and potential customers
• Technical proposal development (idea generation, writing, reviewing)
• Creating innovative solutions to challenging autonomy problems
• Leading teams to design, develop, implement, test and analyze autonomy solutions to national security problems
• Serving as primary technical point of contact to customers, co-contractors, and subcontractors on targeted autonomy programs

Who you Are:

• US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance
• Entrepreneurial spirit eager to engage in technical marketing and business development
• Proven track record in writing and winning technical proposals
• 15+ years of relevant experience in Computer Science, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics
• Substantial experience leading technical teams on advanced R&D programs (e.g., DARPA, Air Force, Navy, Army and IC research projects)
• Experience developing complex autonomy open architectures and algorithms
• Motivated collaborator and effective communicator to both technical and non-technical audiences

Even Better:

• Active Security Clearance at the TS level
• Experience working with the Department of Defense (or Intelligence Community) on autonomy related technology
