Cloud Architect II
Job Description
- Cloud Architect will own the cloud architecture responsibility for a portfolio of products and solutions, providing a platform for application and data teams to exploit the benefits of cloud.
- Cloud Architect will bring expertise to advise product teams to architect, build and deploy next generation cloud solutions.
- Cloud Architect will be the go-to person for Cloud Architecture supporting a broad portfolio of Lockton's application and data needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Create reference architecture patterns for various application and data workloads that are reusable in similar new projects across Lockton.
- Helps create and govern compliance to Hybrid Cloud standards and strategies.
- Design efficient, secure, adaptable, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions that include Azure and AWS infrastructure and platform services (data, networking, application).
- Act as a liaison and stay on top of service updates provided by cloud providers and coordinate with application teams on possible impact and remediation.
- Optimize applications cloud architecture for security, cost optimization, stability, and monitoring.
- Develops standard cloud playbook and runbook, in partnership with various series, departments, partners and vendors.
- Work with DevOps team to build the monitoring and alerting system for different cloud services used by applications.
- Develops and validates software standards, solutions, and blueprints through practical cloud solution deployments.
- Provide guidance to development teams to best implement cloud-based services.
- Analyzes and suggests technical approaches to address challenging development and integration problems with cloud environments.
- Partner with InfoSec team to ensure security controls are embedded into the architecture/designs.
- Assists project teams in understanding and meeting cloud requirements and support vendor/product cloud-based selection activities including completing Request for Proposal (RFP) and Security/Compliance Audits.
Requirements
- BS or higher degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
- 15+ years of experience working in IT
- 3+ years of experience in Architect or similar role
- 5+ years of strong experience with Cloud preferably Azure (Amazon and other cloud providers is a plus)
- Azure and/or AWS Cloud Architect Certification
- Strong experience with PaaS, IaaS & PaaS services; understands leading practices and adoption patterns
- Strong experience with networking, firewalls, load-balancers in Azure and on-premise.
- Experience with Puppet, Chef, Ansible, and continuous integration tools, such as VSTS, Bamboo, Jenkins
- Experience automating the provisioning and automation of your architectures and solutions (infrastructure as Code)
- Maintains proficiency with existing and new cloud technologies and services to provide guidance to technical teams as available cloud capabilities evolve
- Strong experience using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
