COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER - COMMUNICATIONS TEAM

We are looking for a Communications Manager to help drive external storytelling, impactful media relations, and compelling integrated communications programming. Through cross-functional collaboration, agency partnership, and with consideration to global reach, this highly-organized new team member will help drive thought leadership, product news, and active engagement with press. 

We’re seeking a skilled, compassionate, and ambitious communications professional with excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for telling stories that will help showcase Fastly’s industry leadership, expertise and innovation. We are looking for someone with a highly-organized PR mind who can keep projects on track in a fast-paced environment, while facilitating fresh, creative thinking, and employing their superb writing skills to make complex information and concepts accessible to external audiences. We are a growing team of communications and marketing professionals focused on challenging traditional thinking and contributing in a crucial way to the business of building a better internet. 

This role reports to the Senior Communications Manager, and will be based in the U.S. (remote).

What You'll Do

  • You’ll help grow and evolve Fastly’s communications efforts, finding meaningful new ways to increase awareness, build thought leadership and generate press coverage
  • You’ll manage and prioritize inbound media requests, partnering closely with international communications functions on messaging, content and SMEs
  • You’ll coordinate award submissions and speaking opportunities, helping develop crisp, authentic messaging for our spokespeople 
  • You’ll research and disseminate intel from internal and external resources to inform broader communications strategy and initiatives
  • You’ll work cross-functionally with content, product marketing, community, people teams, outside agencies and more to help launch initiatives, corporate news, and new solutions and technology
  • You’ll work with the social media marketing lead and agency to help inform dynamic social campaigns that reflect and promote programs from across the company
  • You’ll organize and track communications efforts, opportunities, and results

What We're Looking For

  • You have 4+ years public relations experience, either in-house or agency-side
  • You are proficient in written language, communication skills, high standards for excellence, patience, empathy, drive, holistic thinking, and hands-on creativity
  • You have the ability to hit tight deadlines, calmly change direction on a dime, and assess tradeoffs and risks
  • You are highly organized, articulate, and communicative, with air-tight judgment
  • You have a proven record of high performance on a productive team, with specific experience driving media relations efforts and PR programs, deftly managing competing deadlines and priorities
  • You are eager to leverage feedback, learn, and problem-solve collaboratively in real-time, and work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
  • You have immense attention to detail, with the ability to understand the power of the written word, and hold high standards for what is shipped out the door

We value a variety of voices, so this is not a laundry list. It would be an added bonus if you have experience in ANY of these:

  • Experience with social media and other marketing disciplines as key elements of impactful integrated communications
  • Preferably a bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related discipline
  • Experience in B2B technology communications or marketing

The estimated salary range for this position is $83,000 to $125,000. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
