This hybrid role will offer remote work and require on-site at Christ Medical Center, in the surrounding communities, and flexibility to travel to other Advocate hospital locations if needed. Position works largely Mon-Fri, but may have an occasional community event outside that schedule in support of community outreach responsibilities.

The purpose of this position is to supervise hospital community outreach and injury prevention initiatives. Specific to injury prevention, the position will develop and oversee activities to decrease preventable, unintentional injuries in children using evidence-based strategies and practices by working collaboratively with hospital teammates, contractors, community and professional partners, families and physicians. The position uses strategic practices in support of the hospital's community outreach/community relations initiatives through event planning and activation, speaking engagements, and community health/outreach programming with a focus on health equity.

Major Responsibilities:

o Supervises child passenger safety and injury prevention program across Advocate pediatric footprint; provides insight to program development/expansion/planning.

o Directs daily operations including staffing at all sites, equipment purchasing, training for appropriate partner departments and medical staff, provides necessary safe travel education to community members.

o Supervises independent contractors who provide educational mother-baby bedside rounding, car seat installations and community support across pediatric sites of care. Oversees necessary certifications and trainings for these providers.

o Manages all data collection and impact reporting.

o Contributes to hospital policy development and implementation.

o Responsible for website development, maintenance and update as needed

o Actively seeks research and grant opportunities, assists grants team on applications, manages necessary data collection and reimbursement processes.

o Represents ACH at appropriate professional and community organizations and meetings.

o Coordinates distribution of donated car seats to vulnerable ACH families.

o Oversees hospital's participation in targeted community events, outreach and education activities including hiring and management of special event team members.

o Manages development of educational exhibits/demonstrations/activities for community-based events including inventory and ordering.

Establishes and maintains community partnerships to benefit ACH visibility and reputation

License/Registration/Certification:

Certified Car Seat Technician or willingness to become certified immediately upon hiring

Level of Education: Bachelor's Degree in community/public health, outreach, communications, education or health management.

Years of Experience: Two years of demonstrated experience in program management

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Candidate must be self-directed, results-oriented and creative
  • Have highly effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Have Presentation and group facilitating skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work load
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word)
  • Understanding of data collection and reporting
  • Grant writing/grant supervision a plus, or must be willing to be trained
  • Undergo and maintain certification through National Child Passenger Certification Training program
  • Resiliency and flexibility to deal with a changing environment
  • Ability to travel to all ACH sites of care and community partner locations and event
  • Ability to lift, transport necessary equipment, displays throughout hospital and community.
  • Ability to maneuver in tight spaces (ie cars to install car seats)
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs without assistance
