Compensation Specialist
At a Glance:
We are currently seeking a talented Compensation Specialist to join our HR Department to oversee and administer our employees' compensation & performance plans and initiatives. The primary goal of this role is to retain and motivate high-quality employees while reducing turnover. The Compensation Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and work closely with the CFO, Practice Director, and Talent team to make data-based decisions on compensation. As a Compensation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maturing our organization's compensation strategy, ensuring fairness, and promoting employee engagement through competitive rewards and benefits. Your Role:
- Manage Compensation Program: Evaluate and manage the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs that reflect our work culture and align with our organizational objectives
- Compliance: Ensure compensation practices comply with current legislation, including pay equity, human rights, and labor regulations.Â
- Job Analysis and Classification: Work with Talent and broader Leadership to evaluate job descriptions and assist in the creation of roles within the organization and align compensation accordingly.
- Performance Management: Collaborate with the leadership team and advise on pay decisions, performance expectations, policy interpretations, and job evaluations. This includes managing the performance evaluation process, ensuring timelines, and communicating appropriately to payroll.Â
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOP): Update and maintain internal SOP documentation related to performance reviews, compensation processes, and policies.
- Research and Implement Best Practices: Conduct ongoing research into emerging trends, issues, and best practices in compensation and benefits management. Design creative solutions for specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.Â
- Audits and Reporting: Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance and prepare reports on compensation and benefits practices.
- Employment Visa Sponsorship: Support employment-related visa sponsorship requests, liaise with legal counsel, and manage employee communication related to visa status.
Your Background:
- Demonstrated working experience as a Compensation Specialist, with prior experience in HR practices and compensation cycle management.Â
- Exposure to compensation programs for a fast-growing company within a competitive industry, such as consulting or professional services is preferred
- Knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to base compensation and incentive compensation programs, company policies, and operations.
- Incentives: Familiarity with various incentives to design a comprehensive compensation package.
- Previous experience with employment visa sponsorship is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting purposes.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills to make data-based decisions and recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or finance preferred.Â

Our recruiting timeline can be flexible to align with your circumstances; our typical timeline can take 2-4 weeks to complete however this can be adjusted or expedited depending on your needs. - 30-45 minute video interview with our Director of Talent
- 30-45 minute video interview with our CFO
- 60-minute interactive interview with our Director of HR, focused around reasoning and situational questions.
- Executive leadership review and decision making
A reasonable estimated salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 USD. This position and compensation range is for candidates who reside in the United States. Our compensation ranges and packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate. It is not a common practice or guaranteed for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range and compensation decisions are determined using a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to; skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications, and specific location due to cost of living & labor considerations; All of which will be considered during the interview and offer process. Salary ranges will differ in other countries in which MHI pays local currency.
