The Content Data Manager plays a critical role in facilitating Cengage's timely and accurate contributor payments - for both author narrative work and licensed content. In this role, one will work cross-functionally to set up and maintain data in Royalties and intellectual property systems. One will manage sales data inputs into the Royalties system and work quickly to resolve issues across multiple contributor accounts. This position supports the wider Content Data Operations team and will play a critical role in gathering, synthesizing, and analyzing content data to resolve author, publisher, and rights holder inquiries.
What You'll Do Here:
- Serve as a primary point of accountability for accurate, complete, and timely deal setups in Royalties and IP systems, maintain auditable documentation for all changes, and audit existing data setups to ensure accuracy
- Process contract amendments efficiently to ensure sales and licensed content payments are processed within the correct royalties accounting period
- Participate in testing royalties system upgrades, improvements, and modifications

- Prepare and import manual sales upload files
- Develop experienced knowledge of internal systems, practices, policies, product team needs, and strategic direction. Communicate with Author/Publisher Relations, Technology, Finance, and Accounting to understand and meet stakeholders' needs for royalties and IP data maintenance
- Gather and synthesize relevant data from the systems to develop actionable recommendations
- Assemble and communicate findings within broader project structure; maintain healthy project management, coding, and workflow practices
Skills you will need here:

- Ability to contribute constructively to a team-oriented environment with rapidly changing priorities and time pressures
- Outstanding reading comprehension, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment where overtime hours can be needed to meet deadlines
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or analytics
- Proficiency with royalties software, general ERP system, and reporting software (Alliant, JD Edwards, Data Warehouse)
- Experience in reading and understanding contracts
