Content Strategist / Writer

Purple, Rock, Scissors has an exciting contract opportunity for 4-6 content strategists/writers to support a large tech client of ours. This role requires someone who has a deep understanding of content and storytelling, and a thoughtful approach to delivering a coherent voice, quality level, and narrative. The current team is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers: who all care deeply about the people who use their products. The UX team plays an integral part in understanding the needs, attitudes, emotions, and behaviors of people who use their products to inspire and inform design.

Contract Opportunity: 3-6 months, potentially longer, to produce content to help train experimental language models. Full time hours.

Responsibilities

• Writers collaborate with product, design, and engineering to deliver work such as: audits that analyze and identify opportunities to create UX writing and content solutions that increase product value, machine learning heuristics to scale product quality, writing and information design patterns across user experiences, and product narratives that successfully guide the user through and within the product.
• Write quality content effectively at an efficient velocity following UX writing and content design frameworks for user experiences, including principles, patterns, and systems. Tailor deliverables based on product or platform requirements.
• Edit and deliver queries and responses to help train the large language model following the voice and tone guidelines for this program in collaboration with the writer's room.

Writing Style

• Short comprehensive yet concise overviews that flow in a logical order.
• Only include information from cited source documents. Don't introduce additional information without citation.
• Summarize and synthesize information from multiple sources. Summaries should demonstrate that we've read and digested sources.
• Spark the user's curiosity to learn more. However, medical queries and queries on other serious topics should not have spark, and do not need to encourage curiosity. For these queries, it's important to be very factual and measured and take a more serious tone.
• Satisfies the user's primary intent (the main request stated in the query) and some secondary intents (related user needs that aren't explicit from the query, but may naturally follow the primary intent)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Literature, Business, Marketing, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in writing, editorial, marketing, UX writing, or related field with experience leading content strategy (e.g., timelines, prioritization, roadmapping).
• Experience training technical language models is a plus.
• Experience working in a cross-functional technology organization.
