This is an opportunity to join a team with a mandate to help drive meaningful growth for Yahoo. The candidate will be part of a central function within the Corporate Development organization. The goal of the team is to drive special projects including complex carve-outs, evaluating and executing transformative M&A and investment opportunities and seeking new growth opportunities for Yahoo, in addition to thought-leadership around Yahoo's most strategic partnerships from a central, holistic and strategic perspective.
This role requires:
  • Ability to think at a strategic, big-picture level while simultaneously getting hands-on and solving analytically for key opportunities and problems
  • Assessing incoming and outbound strategic opportunities (M&A, carve-outs, JVs, investments) that are closely aligned with Yahoo's expansion and growth strategies
  • Lead complex projects through their entire lifecycle, from introductory meeting, through to diligence, negotiation, assessment of strategic fit and deal execution
  • Identifying new opportunities for Yahoo to expand and grow (including geographic expansion, vertical expansion, new areas of opportunities, etc)
  • Analyzing internal and external data and research to develop comprehensive, thoroughly data-backed assessments of our strategic hypotheses, and to develop scenarios for consideration
  • Thought-leadership for Yahoo's most strategic partnerships
  • Understanding and developing materials showcasing holistic partnership strategy, tying to Yahoo's overall strategy and points of intersection
  • Creating playbook and recommendations per partner based on strategy (theirs and Yahoos), working both on long-term partner goals and defining short term objectives
  • Management of cross-functional relationships; understanding priorities of partner teams and layer those into overall analyses and recommendations
  • Providing recommendations and regular updates on partners to the leadership team, including crafting convincing narratives and presentations and effectively communicating recommendations
  • Providing ongoing assessment of market dynamics, competitive moves, industry landscape and comps analysis and nuances, venture trends
  • Knowledge of Yahoo's full suite of product capabilities to identify issues, enhancements and opportunities
  • Ability to handle escalations and drive resolutions

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to independently identify and gather relevant data, do the required analysis (financial modeling skills are essential) and make fully considered but also very clear recommendations
  • Ability to work well within a team and to be self-guided on a day-to-day basis
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including evaluating divestitures, acquisitions, carve outs and strategic investment opportunities
  • Strong business development and contract negotiation skills
  • Very clear written and verbal communication - including presenting to top executives - is essential
  • Demonstrated success working in a cross-functional environment
  • BA/BS degree in either business or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience in corporate development, venture capital, private equity, investment banking or strategy consulting (ideally within the technology or media industry)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA degree or equivalent practical experience

If hired for this position in Colorado, the compensation range for this position is between $94,125.00 - $156,875.00. The compensation may vary depending on your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include additional incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, plus equity incentives. Yahoo provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, retirement, company holidays, vacation, sick time, parental leave and an employee assistance program.
