Under technical direction designs, analyzes and models moderately complex organizational data for a business area, and provides business insights.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

• Performs moderately complex modeling for the purpose of quantifying the performance of the business area and evaluating operational changes. Reports findings to senior consultants and may make recommendations to management.
• Builds materialize views that requires complex SQL logic and prepares foundational data for dashboards and reporting purposes.
• Interprets data and identifies relevant analyses; Monitors trends over time and provides actionable insights that support the active management of the business area.
• Determines possible solutions using technical experience, judgment, and precedents.
• Builds dashboards (using excel and/or Proprietary Software) and prepares reports for Senior Consultants and/or Management.
• Identifies opportunities to leverage new IT solutions in support of analytics and reporting objectives.
• Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction; provides informal guidance to new team members.
• May actively partner with other analytical teams (external, internal) across the organization and/or participate in special projects.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Drives the evolution of CNA application development processes and standards.
• Responds to and fulfills adhoc data requests.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship
Typically Manager or above.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of relational database concepts, advanced SQL, ETL/ELT, star schema, data modeling, data storage/warehousing, big data and cloud data.
• Strong data integration design and development, ensuring accuracy and ease of consumption. Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills. Demonstrates attention to detail.
• Solid knowledge of core functions of an insurance company, general insurance and statistical, financial, and economic concepts, which may include a specialty area of the business.
• Solid knowledge of applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Tableau, Looker, ThoughtSpot and other business related software.
• Proficient in Python or advanced SQL in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
• Preferred experience in building data analytics solutions using Google Cloud Platform services such as Google BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, DataProc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer, or DataPrep. AWS, including, Amazon Redshift, Postgres, Elastic MapReduce a plus.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
• Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, manage time and resources to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Solid project management skills and strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage work deliverables/projects effectively.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of related work experience.
