Team and Role:
The goal of the Microsoft Cloud Data Sciences (MCDS) team is to foster a data-driven culture; to encourage and enable the entire organization to make more informed decisions through data. In support of this mission, our team works closely with engineering, marketing, finance, and business leaders to identify opportunities for improving the customer experience and accelerating the growth of our business. Our charter spans the breadth of Cloud + AI, where we design and deliver standardized views of business performance, identify salient trends, define benchmarks and models for predicting upcoming performance, innovate with experimentations, and surface key insights. - Apply demonstrable statistical, machine learning, and business strategy experience to develop and support predictive algorithms and related decision support products.
- Communicates well with technical and non-technical audiences and contributing modeling expertise as a thought leader.
- Employ structured approach to leveraging large data sets to uncover new business insights.
- Explore and build new tools to model, test, and drive innovation across our business and customer experiences.
- Understand pain points experienced by our clients, and partner with product and engineering teams to define and build innovative and profitable new products to address those needs.
- Partner with data engineering to automate sophisticated data science and machine learning algorithms.
- Build and maintain an up-to-date inventory of enterprise-wide data sources, ensure our systems are built on quality data of known provenance, and measure and manage statistical quality to the highest standards.
- Drive acquisition of new data sources as needed with governance on license, terms of use, compliance, quality, and high availability.
- Represent our capabilities and product offerings to internal and external leadership audiences, both technical and non-technical
- Identify opportunities to improve the employee experience and journey for our data and data science professionals
- Help further drive our culture of Learning through building fostering exploration and discoveryQualificationsQualifications
- Be able to demonstrate a track-record of delivering insights and capabilities through data science, AI or machine learning techniques
- Master's degree or higher required; emphasis in Computer science, Data Science, Statistics, Physics, Computational Biology or Bioinformatics strongly preferred; PhD/MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Software Engineering, Machine Learning, AI, Data Mining
- Expert-level experience in data science and visualization toolkits (R, SAS, Python, Power BI)
- Demonstrable statistical, mathematical, and business strategy skills.
- Experience with business intelligence, data warehousing, and ETL database technologies/solutions.
- Experience in legal applications of advanced analytics an advantage.
- Expertise in building, managing and maintaining cloud based big data solutions using available services such as Machine Learning, Database technologies, and Data Orchestration techniques and services
- Experience framing and participating in data-driven business decisions, including measuring and evaluating outcomes.
- Experienced people manager with the ability to develop talent, build and support a positive and diverse team culture.
- Have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in data analytics, applied sciences, experimentation, application of data sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and/or related roles.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years' experience in a Data Science or Data Analytics role
- Experience using at least one of the following technologies: R, Python, RapidMiner, SAS, SPSS, KNIME
- Have hands-on experience with graph modelling and computational network models.
- Demonstrate strong communications and presentation skills, and the ability to work across teams, executives, and subject matter experts to drive results.
- Tenacious problem solver that is comfortable with ambiguity.
