This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Data Practice Director in Mexico.
This senior leadership role sits at the intersection of strategy, delivery, and people management within a fast-growing cloud data consulting environment. You will be responsible for driving the execution of a data engineering practice while ensuring consistent delivery excellence across multiple client engagements. Acting as a key link between leadership vision and operational execution, you will translate strategy into actionable plans, team objectives, and measurable outcomes. The role combines hands-on engagement oversight with high-level stakeholder influence across clients and internal teams. You will lead a distributed group of data professionals, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. This is a highly visible position with direct impact on client success, practice growth, and organizational capability building in a dynamic, cloud-native ecosystem.
Accountabilities:
- Lead end-to-end delivery oversight across multiple data engineering and analytics engagements, ensuring quality, timeliness, budget adherence, and client satisfaction.
- Drive operational excellence within the practice, including resource planning, utilization tracking, margin management, and delivery health monitoring.
- Establish and enforce scalable delivery standards, frameworks, and best practices to ensure consistency across teams and projects.
- Act as escalation point for complex delivery challenges, resolving technical, scope, or client-related issues in collaboration with delivery leads.
- Translate strategic priorities into execution plans, quarterly objectives, and measurable OKRs in partnership with practice leadership.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed team of data engineers, architects, and analytics professionals.
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning in collaboration with recruiting and workforce planning teams.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor at senior stakeholder levels.
- Support business development activities including solutioning, proposals, and expansion opportunities within existing accounts.
- Contribute to practice growth initiatives, thought leadership, and the development of reusable assets and accelerators.
- 12+ years of experience in consulting or professional services with a strong focus on data engineering, analytics, or data platforms.
- Proven experience managing and scaling teams of 20+ data professionals in a client delivery environment.
- Strong track record of delivering complex data solutions on AWS, including data lakes, lakehouse architectures, streaming, and analytics workloads.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent client engagements with responsibility for both delivery performance and financial outcomes.
- Solid hands-on background in data architecture or engineering with the ability to engage credibly in technical discussions.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to coach, develop talent, and build high-performing teams across geographies.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders (Director, VP, C-level) in consulting or advisory contexts.
- Deep knowledge of AWS data services (e.g., Redshift, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Lake Formation, Athena).
- Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake and their integration into cloud architectures.
- Strong understanding of data engineering concepts including data modeling, governance, ETL/ELT patterns, and data quality.
- Exposure to MLOps and data science workflows is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s or MBA is a plus).
- Relevant AWS certifications are an advantage.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
